A hearing clinic could increase their revenue by offering several different services under one roof. For example, in addition to audiology, they could offer various brands and styles of hearing aids to the hearing impaired or sign language classes to the deaf and hard of hearing.
Making money in these economic hard times by offering something people need versus something people want makes it easier on a business because people are watching their discretionary spending meaning they are not spending money on things they want, only on things they need and hearing aids are things people need not necessarily things they want.
A company, no matter what their product or services are, should have an Internet presence because more and more people every day are searching the Internet for what they want or need before looking to any other media, including their local phone book. This is because the Internet offers more information about the business than hours of operation, telephone number and address. What draws potential customers to a business’ website is not necessarily a bunch of flashy lights and graphics but information regarding their products and services. This could be in the form of a keyword rich article placed on the website in order to inform consumers about various products or services they may not have otherwise known about. Or it could be a free offer such as free eBooks or an offer to compare airlines for those about to travel.
Keywords or keyword phrases are the words that consumers put in the search boxes on the search engines in order to find what they need or what you want. The three major search engines – Yahoo!, Google and MSN – send out “feelers” in order to find these key words and then rank the website according to a special formula. Having a high ranking on the search engine webpages is desirable for a business because the majority of people looking through the search engine webpages make their choice from the first one to five recommendations or listings that come back on the search engine webpages. This is known as search engine optimization or SEO.
Keyword such as hearing aids, audiologists, sign language, hearing impaired, hearing doctors, deaf communication and so on could all be used in the search boxes on the search engines in order to locate hearing clinics or a hearing doctor. If a hearing clinic or hearing doctor has the right amount of keywords on their website then they will be ranked high on the major search engines which is where they want to be. Search engine optimization is a free and automatic service to all Internet websites no matter what they have to offer; therefore a hearing aids company and their competition are both vying for top spots on the search engine websites in order to gain more customers and ultimately make more money.
