Pawn shops could increase their revenue by increasing their visibility on the Internet with an online presence in addition to online store. An online presence needs to do more than simply announce the hours of operation and show a map to the location.
Even though a pawn shop is usually thought of as a real-world brick-and-mortar business, they could have an online store that strictly deals in jewelry and other small valuables to accommodate those people who do not venture out of their house or like to deal with online businesses.
By having both the real-world brick-and-mortar location and an online business, a pawn shop could double their income and reach many more customers than if they only had a real-world brick-and-mortar location. Just as kitchen contractors are considered a real-world business, they too would benefit from an online business because of the Internet’s wide reaching capabilities.
Having an online presence is beneficial to a business because the majority of people nowadays turn toward the Internet to look for what they need and want before any other media combine and that includes the local phonebook, newspapers and magazines.
One way to increase visibility on the Internet for a pawn shop is to engage in search engine optimization for SEO. Search engine optimization is placing a keyword rich article on the pawn shop’s website in order to attract the three major search engines – Yahoo!, Google and MSN. These major search engines send out “feelers” in order to find the keywords or keyword phrases within the articles and then rank the websites according to a special formula. Keywords or keyword phrases are the words customers use in the search boxes on the search engines in order to find what they need or want. Having a high ranking on the search engine webpages is beneficial to the businesses because the majority of people who use search engines choose to click on one of the first few websites listed.
A keyword rich article could serve double time in an article exchange with another website that may or may not be relevant to pawn shops. For example, a sporting goods store could write an article about use sporting goods and place this on the pawn shop’s website and the pawn shop could write a similar article about using sporting goods and place it on a sporting goods website, which would bring in more customers to both websites in addition to raising the search engine ranking of both businesses.
In order to attract more customers to a real-world brick-and-mortar location, a pawn shop needs to have a web presence with keyword rich articles for information to help potential customers make informed decisions and bring them into the real-world brick-and-mortar location.
