There is an old adage that says in order to make money one has to spend money and that is true of an Internet website that sells natural sleep aids.  A company that sells natural sleep aids to people who have trouble sleeping needs to spend a little money on their marketing campaigns and perhaps purchase something to give away as a freebie with every purchase in order to bring in more customers.  One freebie that does not cost that much for a sleep aid to provide for its customers would be legal free music downloads which they could purchase in bulk to give one or two away with each purchase of the natural sleep aids.

One marketing method that does not require payment by a natural sleep aids company would be search engine optimization or SEO.  Search engine optimization is the act of placing keyword rich articles on a website in order to attract the three major search engines – Google, Yahoo!, and MSN.  These three major search engines send out their “feelers” so that they might locate the keywords and keyword phrases within the articles among the websites and then rank the websites according to a special formula.  Keywords and keyword phrases are the words consumers used in the search boxes on the search engines in order to find what they need or want.

A company, like one that sells sleep aids, strives to have a high ranking on the major search engines because the majority of people who use search engines choose from the first few website listings brought back by the major search engine rather than hunt through several pages worth of listings.  By having a high ranking on the major search engines, a company will have more customers which will increase their customer database and ultimately raise their income.

Blogging is another Internet marketing method that sometimes costs very little to implement when blogging on other people’s blogs.  There are millions and millions of blogs available through the Internet.  A natural sleep aids company could blog about their products and services so that they are introducing a new group of people to their products and services who might not have otherwise known about them.  There are themed blogs, for example blogs about how to fall asleep naturally, checking your sleep hygiene and what not to do before bed; all of which would be great places to put a blog post from a sleep aids company.

By using search engine optimization with its keyword rich articles and blogs, a sleep aids company could increase their customer database which usually means increasing their revenue.  Search engine optimization is free and automatic to every website on the Internet and blogs on their own website are free, but blogging on someone else’s website usually costs a small amount but it is worth it to gain more customers.
