There are many reasons why a person would want to visit a pawn shop which has always been a major fixture in cities and towns across the country but have just recently gained popularity with the weakened economy.

Many states require that the pawn shops keep detailed records of every item in their shop along with the name, address and telephone number and copy of their photo ID next to the item pawned on the record. Some states go as far as to require the pawn shops to fax a copy of the records to their local police station every evening as a precautionary measure against stolen items being pawn.
